We Are Winslow is a collaboration of committed volunteers who recognize the strength and opportunity of Winslow’s diversity. We are committed to the cultural and commercial growth of our town by utilizing the Community Heart & Soul development model.
History of the Project
In 2019 the Community Foundation of South Jersey launched an initiative in conjunction with Community Heart & Soul called Transform South Jersey.
Transform South Jersey offered up to $100,000 per town to 6 towns in South Jersey with the intention that money would be used over two years to help increase community participation, to identify and articulate shared values, and to make decisions and take action based on what matters most to all the people of each of the communities.
After a group of residents submitted a letter of interest, Winslow was invited to submit a full application. This required two community meetings to discuss our readiness for the project and a mapping exercise to identify different groups within the township. With support and assistance from Winslow Township School District and Mayor Barry Wright, the application was submitted in December 2019.
Again, Winslow was selected to proceed to the next stage and a diverse group of approximately 15 residents met with representatives from Transform South Jersey and Community Heart & Soul in January 2020 to convince them that Winslow was worth the investment and committed to the project.
